Libertys

Our laidback cafe can be used as a place to meet. It is perfect for informal gathering / society meetings etc. Libertys is open to the public 9am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday so is only available in the evenings. As Libertys is a cafe, we are limited as to what lighting and sound equipment can be used - so it might be better to look at using Zeros instead.

Zeros

Is our main entertainment venue within the Student Union and can hold up to 450 people. There's a bar and a space for DJ booth, as well as a full lighting rig and PA system. Zeros is often used for club nights, drama performances and large meetings - make sure you tell us what you require when completing a booking form to make sure we can provide everything you need. Lighting and Sound equipment requires our Events Crew to operate to make sure your event runs smoothly.

How can I book Libertys or Zeros?

To book Libertys or Zeros, you need to do the following:

1. Check the availability using our online tool to see when Libertys or Zeros are free
2. Download the correct booking form below, fill it in and return it to the Student Union Reception either in person or via email on Union.Reception@hw.ac.uk
3. We will check your requirements to advise you on the next steps
4. If you are only booking the room (i.e. don't require any technical / bar / catering) the booking will be made and confirmed to you
5. If your booking requires lighting, sound, bar or catering then the Commercial Manager will contact you to discuss what you need before the booking is confirmed. This is to make sure your event goes without a hitch.

Please Note: Your booking is not confirmed until we have notified you by email. Returning a completed form does not mean your event has been booked.

What does it cost?

Use of Libertys and Zeros is free for affiliated Heriot-Watt Student Union societies. There may be some additional charges for extras like: 

• Deposit for Opening the Bar (if the bar makes more than £100, your deposit is returned)
• Having our Security Staff Present
• Use of the Events Crew
