Halls

Your home away from home.

Christina Miller halls

Living in halls is one of the best thing about your first year!

Whether you're on or off campus every Heriot-Watt student has a hall of residence.

You can practically fall out of bed and still be on time for that 9.15am lecture.

Your halls of residence is an amazing community where you'll meet people from all over the country and even the world. This is likely your first time ever away from home so there's no bedtimes, nobody telling you what to do (well, maybe the warden) and you can shamelessly wake up at noon or have yesterday's pizza for breakfast.

In your halls of residence you'll have a shared kitchen and you may have a shared lounge as well. You'll obviously get to know the people in your corridor/flat/kitchen the best but don't be afraid to go knocking on your other neighbours doors. The more the merrier for halls parties!

So welcome to your halls community. We're sure you're going to love living on our beautiful campus. Remember you're not alone if you need any support during your stay. We have a halls development officer and your halls will also have its very own warden and housekeeper to look after you.

Your warden

Each Hall has a Warden to offer advice, support, and deal with any problems along the way. Wardens are also students at Heriot-Watt. They'll introduce themselves in the first week and probably arrange a Halls meeting so you know all the rules and how things work. Wardens are usually in their flat in the evening at least four evenings a week. There are always two Wardens who are on call between 17:00-23:00 every night. They can be contacted by calling 3501 from your room’s phone. If you urgently need help after 23:00 hours please contact security control by calling 3500 from your room’s phone or use the red phones located throughout the halls.

For more information about your wardens or halls, please see the accommodation services website here.

Get involved - it's your halls

Christina miller group boh

Halls are the hub of student activities - there's always something going on.

To help develop your halls community, we arrange events including the Battle of the Halls where halls fight it out in fun activities to win points which equal big prizes for your halls. Will Christina Miller tank Robert Bryson or will Muriel Spark smash Fiona Watson?

If you want to get involved with running your halls then why don't you become a halls rep?
