The Learning and Teachers Oscars are run annually by the Student Union as a way of recognising the very best of Heriot-Watt staff. We have a number of different awards that we issue every year. In fact we've received approximately 5500 nominations from students over the past 7 years for staff members they feel have made a difference to them.

In addition to the Learning & Teaching Oscars there's the Graduates Teaching Award for each school which allows final year students to recognise the staff members who made their degrees possible.

⭐The Refreshing Award - Most Innovative Lecturer⭐
Practical- Assessments, Delivery - Method, techniques, enjoyable, Creative, Use of Vision.

⭐The Thinkers Award - Most Challenging Lecturer⭐
Challenging, Encourages self-learning and critical thinking, Stimulates debate and interest, Students are challenged to give their best and beyond.

Approachability, Going the extra-mile, Interested and engaged, Imparts vital advice and knowledge, Helpful or friendly.

⭐Department of the Year⭐
This is for the department that has gone above and beyond expectation, who has supported students, provided world leading teaching and made students and staff feel like one community.

As nominated by final year students in each school and presented at graduation ceremonies, this award is for the staff member who has had the biggest influence over all your time at Heriot-Watt, and without whom your time here would not have been as memorable.
