So you’re coming to Heriot-Watt this September? Welcome! Your Freshers journey starts right here.
We are your Student Union, and we are much more than just a place for a cheap pint. We’re a not-for-profit registered charity with elected student officials who represent the students of Heriot-Watt and enhance their university experience, from our student café, bar and shop right through to over 70 different societies. If things go wrong or you just need a chat, we’ll be here for you.
It’s impossible for each and every student at Heriot-Watt to go and speak with the Principal and tell him what’s on their minds, so we do the hard work for you! Your Student Officers meet regularly with the Principal and a whole range of University staff to share the views of students and get things done. We’re all here to study, so academic issues regarding your course and your learning and teaching experience are at the heart of our work. We have dedicated Academic and School Officers and the Union President is responsible overall for academic issues. All this whilst organising great social events, volunteering opportunities and liberation campaigns!
You’re automatically a member of the Student Union when you enrol at Heriot-Watt.

Is something bugging you about your course? Speak with your School Officer for your course.
Want something changed? Vote in the elections or come and speak with your Sabbatical Officers.
